Small Ships Register

The Small Ships Register caters for vessels less than 24 metres in length.  It is not a title register and mortgages can not be registered against the vessel.  Companies cannot register on the SSR and qualifying individuals must be resident in the UK.

Fishing

With certain limited exceptions every British Sea Fishing Vessel which fishes for profit is required by law to be registered.  Guidance notes on the registration process are available by clicking here

Seafish Inspection Certificates

All those registering for the first time or for vessels that have previously been registered and whose registration has been closed over 6 months must provide the following from Seafish prior to registration.

New Build

7m LOA to 15m LOA: Hull construction certificate & outfit compliance certificate.

Under 7m: Hull construction certificate

Built since April 2001 and no Hull construction certificate .

Under 15m LOA: Declaration of Inspection Certificate

Built prior to 2001

Under 15m LOA: Flag in survey report
