Revalidation STCW 95

Certificates of Competency are revalidated every five years on proof of sufficient seatime service and a valid medical issued by a approved MCA doctor.  GMDSS certificates are only revalidated  by the Registry of Shipping when received with a revalidation of a COC,  all other queries or revalidations of GMDSS are dealt with by Seafarers Standards at Southampton

Fees

Revalidation   £36.00 plus £10.00 for overseas postage (we recommend that if the postal service in the receiving country is not reliable that a courier is used).

Courier            £30.00

Please note there is no charge to revalidate tanker endorsements and GMDSS certificates.

Discharge Books & British Seamans Cards

A discharge book is a continuous record of a seafarers service.  It is the personal possesion of the seafarer.  The British Seaman's Card is similar to a British Passport and is internationally accepted, allowing seafarers to land at foreign ports without having to obtain visas.  The card is surrendered to RSS by the seafarer when he/she leaves seagoing employment.  Guidance notes on qualifying criteria are attached to the application form.
