Detained in Falmouth the previous month with 20 deficiencies, released and further detained for 6 days when main engine failed during the vessel’s departure. Detained with inoperable main engine and starting arrangements. The vessel again failed to clear Falmouth Harbour upon release from the 2nd detention and was detained once more on 15th March. The ship was sufficiently repaired by 5th April, following flag state ISM audit, for the MCA to permit a single voyage to a Romanian repair yard for further work. On this occasion the vessel sailed successfully.

The GALINA was originally detained with 7 recorded deficiencies, of which 4 were detainable, namely unsafe, defective and unreliable auxiliary engines and associated systems; other machinery and electrical devices and systems being similarly unreliable or unsafe; health, hygiene and sanitary conditions a risk to crew; loose floor plates and other accident hazards on board.

Originally detained in Lowestoft in 2000 with 50 recorded deficiencies. Magnetic Compass deviation card missing, daylight signals missing, excess oil in engine room constituting a fire hazard, ship’s certificates expired. The vessel was allowed to sail on a one-off voyage to Southampton under a load line exemption, where she was sold for refurbishment. The new owners obtained a further load line exemption for a single voyage to Plymouth where the OLIVER FELIX remained under detention and was still undergoing repair at the end of March.
