Three People Swept Out to Sea Off Bacton

At 3:30 pm this afternoon (Sunday) Yarmouth MRCC received three 999 calls reporting a small inflatable toy dinghy being swept out to sea off Bacton. Members of the public on scene informed the Coastguard that two people from the inflatable were trying to swim back to the shore, with one more clinging to the dinghy. It was not clear at that time whether there were more people involved in the incident. read more..

At 2230 last night (Saturday) Humber Coastguard dealt with multiple reports of red and white flares being sighted at Bamburgh Castle near Berwick upon Tweed. Reports also came in of sightings from Tynemouth, Sunderland and Cleethorpes.  read more..

Man Falls Down Cliffs At Newquay

Falmouth Coastguard were called by Ambulance Control at 5.15 this morning to request their assistance for a 33 year old man who had fallen down 80 ft cliffs. The Newquay Coastguard Rescue Team were called to the scene and met with Ambulance Control. The man had internal bleeding and a broken leg, but was conscious. read more..

Hoax Call Sparks Air and Sea Search

At 11.30 pm yesterday a mayday call was received from the Donald Sara Lee on VHF Channel 16. The vessel reported that it had hit rocks and was taking on water with three people on board. They gave their position as Trow Rock near South Shields Pier. The caller reported that the crew had lifejackets on, then communications were lost. read more..

Two Sports Divers Taken to Hospital in Separate Incidents

At half past eleven this morning, Shetland Coastguard received a call from the dive boat, Valkyrie reporting that a diver aged in his mid sixties had made a rapid ascent and was suffering headache. He was placed on oxygen and the Lerwick lifeboat who were on exercise were requested to go and recover the man from the dive vessel and take him back to Lerwick for transportation to hospital. read more..

At approximately 7:50 this morning Yarmouth Coastguard received a MAYDAY call from a 22f ft sailing vessel Tomahawk with 2 people on board approx 30 miles off the coast off Cromer on the East Coast. The sailing yacht had been taking part in the North Sea Race when it experienced difficulties in the rough weather, loosing its rudder and power. read more..

Twelve Rescued From Water After Dive Boat Sinks

Twelve divers were rescued today, after their boat Aquanaut sank just west off Salcombe. The divers let off a flare, which alerted the crew of a passing yacht Dutch Angel, the crew then radioed the Coastguard for help; they then proceeded to the scene to secure the life raft and help the casualties out of the water. read more..

Cliff Climber Airlifted to Hospital

A 19 year old cliff climber was airlifted from the base of cliffs this evening to hospital. He had been out climbing on cliffs at Auchenlaire in south west Scotland with his 16 year old nephew when he slipped and fell. His nephew called 999 at just before 8.00 pm and requested help from Liverpool Coastguard. Both of the boys had been staying at a nearby caravan site and the 16 year old had difficulty describing exactly where they were. read more..

Scallop Dredger Grounded Off Ross of Mull

A ten-metre scallop dredger Freedom is aground off Loch Scridain (Ross of Mull). Clyde Coastguard were informed at 9.00 pm last night that the vessel was aground and taking water through vents, although it did not seem to be holed. The first person on scene, was a Coastguard from Ross of Mull Coastguard Rescue Team. He investigated the grounding and reported back to the operations room. read more..
