Two Rescued After Vessel Dashed Against Rocks

At just after 11.00 am this morning Holyhead Coastguard were alerted by a mobile phone call from the skipper of a small 27 foot red hulled commercial motor vessel called Jean M that was being dashed against the rocks at Rhoscolyn Bay after the vessel suffered engine failure. 20 Year Old Female Recovered From Cliff Ledge

Just before 10.00 pm yesterday evening Humber Coastguard were informed about a young woman aged 20 from Cottingham, north of Hull who had fallen down a cliff at Scalby Mills by North Cliff in Scarborough. Although she had only fallen around 10 feet she had landed on a ledge thereby saving her from the rest of the 150 foot drop to the bottom below. read more..

Yacht Calls for Help in Storm Force Winds

At 08.50 this morning the 65 foot yacht Elinca transmitted an emergency broadcast requesting assistance from Stornoway Coastguard when they suffered a gearbox failure in storm force winds. The vessel, who had 13 crew on board, had no choice but to anchor on a lee shore on the remote Loch Tealasbhaigh to the west side of the Isle of Lewis in winds of up to 50 knots.  read more..
