At twenty six minutes past eight this morning Liverpool Coastguard were contacted by workers on the work barge UR101 reporting that the barge anchor cables were breaking in heavy seas. read more..

Major Search for Missing Man

At around 5.00 pm this evening Kent Police contacted Dover Coastguard to alert the marine emergency service to a missing man who was known to have taken an overdose of medication and was heading towards the cliffs at St Margarets Bay near Dover. He was described as being over 6 foot, and was wearing a light blue top with light coloured jeans. read more..

Lorry Driver Fined for Not Declaring Dangerous Goods to a Ferry Operator

On Thursday 20th November 2008, at Dunkirk, Janusz Gauden, a 56 year old Polish lorry driver arrived and attempted to board a British ferry bound for Dover. He declared that he had 383Kg of Dangerous Goods (Methyl Methacrylate Monomer Stabilized) on his load but the ferry operator identified that the driver did not have the correct documentation and refused permission to board. read more..

The Receiver of Wreck today publishes her Annual Report which reveals that in excess of 1,500 items were reported during 2008. Items reported range from water melons to gold nuggets as well as tonnes of timber. read more..

Sinegorsk and Lost Timber – Update

The Russian vessel Sinegorsk which lost 1500 metric tonnes of untreated timber into the English Channel early yesterday morning berthed late yesterday evening at Southampton in order to re-stow the remaining cargo, thereby reducing the risk to life and the environment. Dover Coastguard Alerted to Loss of Timber From Russian Vessel

Around 8.15 this morning Dover Coastguard were alerted to the loss of 1500 metric tonnes of sawn timber which has been lost from the deck of the 1991 built, 137 metre, single screw, single deck , Russian vessel `Sinegorsk, 14 nautical miles south of Newhaven. The vessel was heading to Alexandria in Egypt from Oskarshamn in Russia. read more..

This morning a man whilst walking his own dog at Llanelli Docks attempted to rescue another dog, which appeared to be trapped on the groynes, the tide at the time was rising. read more..
