Training
The RYA's Personal Water Craft training course has been running for over 10 years. Over this time it has become more popular as the sport has grown. Increasingly UK harbour masters are expecting riders of PWC to have completed the course before launching from their slipways, so having the certificate makes life a lot easier for the rider. The certificate is also valida cross the world allowing those that have completed the course to take their PWC on holiday with them and ride in foreign waters. Most importantly the course teaches people to use PWC safely, responsibly and with confidence, ensuring that they get the best out of their craft without endangering others.
The course is designed for first time and experienced riders alike. There are always new skills to be learned, be it low speed control, orientationa t sea or any of the other skills covered by the course. Children aged between 12 and 16 can also take the course; their certificates will be endorsed to show that they must use PWC only under the supervision of a responsible adult.
The MCA strongly recommends any PWC user to become a member of a club or organisation and get the necessary training to use their PWC safely.
