NCP Environment Group Training Package

This training package has been compiled by the MCA, Natural England, Environment Agency and Cornwall County Council. It is for use by any organisation  wishing to provide training to their staff on the role and activities of the Environment Group in the National Contingency Plan for Marine Pollution from Shipping and Offshore Installations.

Each presentation comes with presenter notes to assist those doing the delivery. These can be seen in the ‘Notes Page’ view in powerpoint and can be printed out with the slides for presenters’ use.

You may choose to alter the slides and notes to add interest, reflect local environmental issues and include current developments.

Whilst the package is suitable for use by a single organisation to train their own staff, you may wish to consider using a range of presenters from relevant organisations. For example the pilot workshop was hosted by the Environment Agency and presentations made by Natural England, the MCA and Cornwall County Council to an audience of staff from all of these organisations. This provides a useful opportunity for cross-agency discussion of roles and responsibilities which adds value to the training.

Suggested order of presentation:

An additional module you may wish to use if you have sufficient time :

Below is a glossary of acronyms used in the presentations and commonly used during marine incidents. You may find it useful to hand out copies of this to the training attendees.
