UK Ship Register

Background

The UK Shipping Register - operated by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) is one of the oldest and most prestigious shipping registers in the world.

The introduction of the tonnage tax scheme together with the flexible, responsive, customer focused approach the MCA has to those companies wishing to fly the Red Ensign have helped to ensure that the UK Register maintains it reputation as a quality flag of choice.

Methodology

Customers who register their ship onto the UK Register will have an opportunity to let us know what we are doing well and which areas we can improve in through our telephone survey. The March 2009 survey was carried out with 16 different shipping companies who registered their ship on the UK Ship Register within the six months prior to March 2009.
