Stornoway District covers the West Coast of Scotland from Ardnamurchan Point, the western most point of the UK, to Cape Wrath in the North. This also includes the Western Isles, the Isle of Skye and the Small Isles of Rum, Muck, Eigg and Canna. This area of coastline extends to approx 3000 miles. Also within the District lie the Atlantic outliing Islands of St Kilda, The Flannan Isles and Rockall. Our Search and Rescue responsibilities also include approx 50,000 sq nautical miles of the Eastern Atlantic.
The District is generally remote and sparsley populated with many miles of innaccessable coastline. Our Customers in the main are from the Commercial and Fishing world although leisure activity is on the increase year on year.
