Aberdeen Coastguard District covers the North and East coasts of Scotland from Cape Wrath (the most Northwesterly point on mainland Scotland) to Doonies Point (just south of Aberdeen), including the Pentland Firth, Caledonian Canal & Loch Ness and a large area of the northern North Sea.

This coastline is comprised of a variety of terrains ranging from the towering cliffs at Cape Wrath and along the North Coast of Scotland, through rocky foreshores of the Dornoch and Cromarty Firths to the densley populated area of Aberdeen with its sandy beaches.

Our commercial activities include a large volume of merchant traffic servicing the busy ports of the northeast, a large white fish industry, an ever growing leisure fraternity and continues to be dominated by the Offshore Oil Industry in the North Sea.
