Newlyn Fishing Vessel Survey Office is located on the ground floor of the main Harbour office complex, directly adjacent to the Fish Market. There is one surveyor on site primarily responsible for Surveys and Inspections of Fishing vessels. There are also many small passenger vessels operating in West Cornwall which are also supported from this office. There is no direct administrative support on site this being carried out from Plymouth Marine Office. Newlyn is the home of the largest fishing fleet in England. Over one hundred vessels of varying types and size use the port. One of the few slipways in the region is located here along with extensive supporting engineering facilities, thus enabling complete surveys to be conducted within the port. An office on the quay has brought the MCA closer to the fishing Industry and has created the ability to provide genuine assistance rather than just regulatory enforcement.
